An electron beam and a proton beam are moving parallel to each other in the beginning. Do they always maintain this status? Explain.

The ratio of electric and magnetic force between the electron and the proton is given by,
$\frac{F_e}{F_m} = \frac{C^2}{V_1 V_2}$
Since, $c^2 > V_1 V_2$
$\therefore F_e > F_m$
Here, the electron and the proton produce current in the opposite direction. Thus, magnetic force $(F_m)$ is repulsive.

But, When the magnetic force increases the velocity of them also increases and the electric force is attractive.

Thus if they have higher velocity, they converge slowly and otherwise converge quickly.
