If you are not clear of the base of physics, then you are not going to climb the top with confidence. So how to build a strong base?
Here, I would recommend the following books as starting materials for understanding physics:
1) The University of Physics by Hugh Young and Roger Freedman:
If you are familiar with high school - level mathematics and are willing to get much more knowledge, this book is the best choice. You can view from here. If you want to download, click here.
2) If you are just OK in mathematics, and more willing to know more logical or verbal concept (rather than mathematics), Principle of Physics (International edition) or Fundamental of Physics (US edition) is the better option for you.
3) If you want to check your concept with some problems or just want to summarize the concepts, HC Verma's Concept of Physics is the best.
4) You can't enjoy reading the course books?
Now, at last, I highly recommended reading Richard Feynman's Lectures collection in printed format or Feynmanlectures.caltech.edu., You ultimately fall in love with PHYSICS. Then,
What you LOVE, that's PHYSICS!!
